GREEN BAY, Wis. (NBC 26) -- The coronavirus outbreak has been the hardest financial loss that Stillmank Brewing Company, located in East Green Bay, has ever faced.
"To not have the opportunity to sell to all of the tap lines that we normally do has probably been the biggest hit for us" Brad Stillmank, owner and lead brewer said.
While Wisconsinites isolate during Safer at Home orders, Stillmank is turning to curbside service in order to keep his brewery going as safely as possible for his customer base. He took the notion from other local restaurants and bars adjusting their business models during the pandemic.
"Our taproom is a pretty fun part of our business and we're missing getting the chance to see all of our regular customers and the people coming in that want to explore our brands," Stillmank said. "So we thought, well why not kind of start offering the same thing?"
"We have plenty of packaged beer that we're still packaging for other retail," Stillmank said, "Why not make that available? And if we can figure out a safe way to do that, we should open up and do that."
Every Wednesday from 3-6 p.m. and Saturday from 1-3 p.m., Stillmank and his staff are rolling out a mobile bar complete with taps, ready to fill growlers and kegs. Stillmank is also selling apparel and canned beers.
"From our loading dock, we're a few elevated from the street, so it helps us keep a good social distance between ourselves and our customers," Stillmank said, "but also gives us a chance to bring beer out, say hi and get to chat for a second with people we don't get to see every day, and make some sales and hopefully generate some revenue that's quite needed right now."
