If you're looking for a great Wisconsin dog for a footlong with bacon sauce and cheese curds, Hot Dog Charlie's in Oshkosh is the place to go.

"I started out with a hotdog cart here on Main Street. I was one of the very first guys to do it. After 2 years of that, I had a chance to open the restaurant and we've been in the restaurant ever since," says owner, Charlie Nichols.

Charlie says business is usually good but right now business has slowed down. Either way, he's still rolling out hot dogs with is signature bacon sauce because it is what he loves to do.

"I invented bacon sauce when I started out with the cart, nobody else has that. If you like bacon, it's a little slice of heaven.
And that really took off. So we put the bacon sauce on the dog, with real shredded cheese, toast it with a creme brulee torch. From there, now people ask for it on everything. People get it on their fries, tater tots, cheese curds, you name it."

Nichols says throughout the pandemic he has seen his community in Oshkosh pull together and try to get through it the best they can.

"We're all going through the same thing, but we're all pulling for each other. We're hoping that this turns out really good, and I think it is going to be good, it's just going to be a matter of time. We just gotta our heads high. So come on, give us a shot. I really appreciate it, and lets all get through this together."

Hot Dog Charlie's is located at 9 Church Ave in Oshkosh and is still open for take-out or delivery. Click here for more information.
