The Valders Vikings are headed to the WIAA State Tournament for the first time since 1984.

"I can't believe it," senior guard/forward Kyle Tuma said after the game. "Unbelievable. Unbelievable."

The Vikings defeated the Xavier Hawks in the D3 Sectional Championship, 59-57. The win ended Xavier's 53-game winning streak, the longest active streak in the state.

"We've been to this moment a few times against Xavier and they got the best of us so we were looking to get some revenge today and we did it," Valders head coach Trevor Schwoerer said.

"It's what we've been dreaming about since we were kids growing up together," Valders forward Jake Beimborn added. "Us seniors have been playing together so long. It's well deserved."
