HOBART, Wis. (NBC 26) — The likes of the New Jersey Generals and Philadelphia Stars will be back on the field this spring as the United States Football League - or USFL - makes a return, and a few local players will be along for the ride.

Seymour native Jon Dietzen was selected in the 23rd round of the USFL draft by the Pittsburgh Maulers.

It's a new career opportunity for the offensive lineman, who played college football at Wisconsin before spending some time on the Packers practice squad last season.

His former college teammates - fullback Garrett Groshek and defensive lineman Olive Sangapolu - were also drafted by Pittsburgh.

Dietzen will continue to train at Synergy Sports Performance in Hobart before joining the Maulers. The USFL season is scheduled to begin April 16.
