GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — The Green Bay Packers will limit game day attendance at Lambeau Field to Packers employees and their families for the remainder of the 2020 NFL regular season, the organization announced Tuesday.

The Packers had previously allowed a limited number of employees and family members to attend games recently, with the possibility of allowing more fans to attend games later in the season.

On Tuesday, however, the Packers said while COVID-19 infection rates in Brown County currently are trending in a better direction, the rate overall remains at a high level locally. The Packers said it's the fourth highest among NFL cities. The Packers are also concerned the rate may spike again during the holiday season.

After consulting with local health officials, the Packers decided maintain the current level of attendance at games, composed of employees and their household families, is the safest option for the community.

The Packers said in a news release Tuesday the approach to any potential home playoff game(s) will be decided at a later date.
