GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — Green Bay Packers shareholders gathered Monday at Lambeau Field for the annual shareholders meeting.
According to the Packers, 3,900 shareholders were in attendance, while 8,000 watched online.
"I really liked it. It was a lot of fun for me," said Zoey Lichty, Onalaska, who went to the meeting with her dad.
"I thought the meeting was great," said John Hall, Fond du Lac. "A lot of hope for the future and I'm looking forward to a new season."
This year's meeting comes as questions continue to surround the status of some of the team's top players.
As previously reported, Green Bay's MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers already sat out the Packers' mandatory minicamp amid reports he doesn't want to play for Green Bay anymore. But on Monday, a new report suggested that Rodgers intends to play in Green Bay this season.
Although Packers leaders said they've been working with Rodgers and his representatives in hopes of keeping him on the team for 2021 "and beyond," some fans said they're skeptical about the quarterback's status on the team.
"Currently it's Mr. Roger's neighborhood, but if we want to make this the 'love shack,' I'm okay with that too," said Tracy Steiner, Green Bay.
"I would say sign him for another year and if he doesn't pan out then trade him," said Gerald Tochterman, Green Bay.
Others said they're not too concerned about the situation.
"I believe in our leadership and I believe they're doing it the right way," said Josh Lichty, Onalaska. "I think every player deserves the right to do it their way too, and eventually, you know, we just believe it'll work out."
“I have faith in the organization and I think they’ve been doing a great job and will continue to do so," Hall said.
One shareholder said he's just trying to stay optimistic.
"They're not going to find a better place to play," said Bret Iverson, Hertel. "You've got the best fans, you have the best facilities - I mean there's nothing like this in the NFL."
William Battin, a 9-year-old from Chicago, went to the shareholders meeting Monday. Battin said he looks forward to what many hope will be a winning season.
"Aaron or no Aaron, I expect 10 wins or more with the weapons that Jordan Love would have," Battin said.
Steiner, who attended her first shareholders meeting Monday since moving from Minneapolis to Green Bay one year ago, has a similar sentiment.
“I just hope they can finish this upcoming season," Steiner said. "The last two seasons have left a bitter pill in my mouth. I just hope everybody plays well, has a good time and plays as a team, because that’s how they’re going to win.”
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday that the Packers and star wide receiver Davante Adams have "broken off long-term extension talks," just days before the start of training camp.
