GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — A different kind of football is coming to Lambeau Field this summer.
The Green Bay Packers announced Monday that an exhibition match between European soccer clubs FC Bayern Munich and Manchester City will take place at Lambeau Field on Saturday, July 23.
It's the first-ever soccer match to be played at the Green Bay stadium.
The match between the European clubs, being called the "USA Cup," is part of FCB’s Audi Summer Tour.
Tickets for the game will go on sale to the public Friday, May 6, at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster.com. Packers Season Ticket Holders will have access to an exclusive presale starting at 10 a.m. CDT on Thursday, May 5, with additional details provided via email from the Packers ticket office.
The Packers said in a statement that season ticket holders and official supporters clubs for FC Bayern Munich and Manchester City will have a separate presale window for tickets starting May 3 at 10 a.m. in their local time zones. Prices range from $35 to $160.
The match will begin at 6 p.m. and further details regarding broadcasting the game, weekend activities, and stadium information will be released in the coming months.
For a group of youth soccer players with the Wisconsin United Football club, they said this announcement couldn’t be more exciting.
“I think it’s really cool because I know nothing has ever happened in Wisconsin like this ever before," said one youth soccer player.
“It’s just really exciting to see them play and in-person. I like seeing them playing on tv,” said another youth soccer player.
"I think this is a great opportunity for the community and for kids like us that can be inspired by the players," said Mallory, another youth soccer player.
Lambeau Field has hosted a variety of non-Packers events over the last decade, including concerts (hosting big names like Paul McCartney) and a college football matchup.
