ASHWAUBENON (NBC 26) — It’s a big day for betting at the Oneida Casino.
“A lot of phone calls coming in daily about when we're going to open, what are we going to be offering," said Chad Fuss, Gaming Assistant and Chief Financial Officer. “The appetite for a legal market for sports betting is continually growing,”
With sports betting becoming legal in Wisconsin just weeks ago, the Casino prepared for the crowds, as betting for the big Packers-Bears rivalry matchup tonight began on Tuesday.
“We've seen a lot of fan excitement," he said. "And with the sports fanatics in Wisconsin, and having gaming as a leisure pastime, we're trying to blend those two together, and it's really working out. We're seeing a lot of excitement with customers, making bets.”
Not every Packers fan is placing a bet on Sunday’s game though.
“I'm not a better myself," said Ezer Pamintuan. "I just like to enjoy the game.”
Mariella Meza knows how much she'd wager if she did.
“I'm just saying it's kind of a guarantee, right?" she said, referring to a Packers win. "That's a good question. I'd probably do 100."
These California-based fans are betting on the Packers either way.
“Definitely the packers," said Meza. "I think it's going to be, they're going to put up a fight, but I think it's going to be Packers all the way."
"Rodgers is going to throw, you know, for 500 yards,"said Pamintuan. "Packers by at least two touchdowns. That's my prediction."
It’s hard to tell if the big crowds lately have just been people betting on the Packers because there’s also NBA and NCAA basketball and football to get on these days as well, the Casino says.
