GREEN BAY — Appleton East was scheduled as the last semifinal game out of the girl's state basketball tournament at the Resch Center and less than two hours later they punched their ticket to the Division One state title game.
The Patriots held off a late comeback by Brookfield East to win 44-40.
Patriots senior and Marquette commit Emily LaChapell had nearly half of her teams points, finishing with a game-high 20 points and 8 rebounds.
