Small Towns: Chimes at Gateway Plaza spread holiday cheer year-round

We're officially into the holiday groove, and by now, you should expect the Christmas classics to be belted out everywhere.

Jingle Bells is just one of the harmonic tunes you can hear "stomped out" in downtown Neenah at the Gateway Plaza's dance chime.

The chime provides an unexpected pep to your step year-round.

"It's a little hard to describe, but if you've seen the movie Big with the oversized keyboard, it's similar to that," explained Chris Haese, Neena's director of community development.

With just five perfectly placed chimes, these tiles bring out the kid in everyone.

"You don't have to use your hands, you can just use your feet and dance along to the song when you're playing it," said Madison Eckhart, 10, of Neenah.

"It's something that touches people on a number of different levels, and I think that's what makes it an interesting piece for our community," Haese said.

So if you want to showcase some moves, or just hear a Christmas tune in an unsuspecting place, consider checking out the Gateway Plaza, where the tone is just right.
