GREEN BAY — The Packers will play their third preseason game this summer in Canada.
The game against the Oakland Raiders will kickoff at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22 at IG Field in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The Raiders are the host of the game and have been working with On Ice Entertainment, Ltd., to bring the preseason game with the Packers to Canada. The Packers last played north of the border in Toronto on Aug. 16, 1997, in a preseason game against the Buffalo Bills.
IG Field serves as home of the Canadian Football League’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Canadian Premier League’s Valour FC soccer team. The partially covered stadium seats 33,000 and has played host to the 103rd Grey Cup, the 2016 NHL Heritage Classic and the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015.
Tickets go on sale to the general public 10 a.m. June 8. The game will be televised nationally in Canada and on NBC26 as part of the Packers Television Network, a collection of stations in multiple states that broadcasts all of Green Bay’s preseason contests.
