GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- Mona Rose Winery in Green Bay specializes in small-batch hand-crafted wines since 2013.
The owner and wine maker, Craig Fletcher, began studying wine making after leaving the military. He loved it so much he went into business and named it after his wife, Monica Rose.
He's now won nearly 30 domestic and international awards for wines, striving to produce quality you'd find in Europe or California. He shared with us how each year's climate impacts the flavor of the grapes and therefore the wine:
"All the juice I get comes from California, the Central Valley. So I'm making something that you can trace back to…for thousands of years because it's based on the grapes, it's based on the profiles, it's based on what you're trying to bring out of that grape, based on yeast selections, oak selections."
The winery also serves as a venue for wedding celebrations. Mona Rose is located on South Packerland Drive in Green Bay.
