The state is now accepting license applications from Wisconsin farmers who want to grow industrial hemp. It's part of a research pilot program that Congress approved back in 2014.
State lawmakers lifted a ban on the crop last fall.
Hemp can be used in food and clothing products as well as construction materials.
The deadline to apply for the upcoming growing season is May 1st.
