Two Rivers man dies in head-on crash in Brown County

UPDATE: The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the names of the people involved in the fatal crash on STH 57 in the Town of Scott on Saturday night. The driver of the wrong way PT Cruiser that died in the crash is Terry Barner from the Two Rivers area. The driver of the Jeep is identified as Stuart Schindler, of the Green Bay area. Stuart is still hospitalized and the crash is still under investigation.

A 61-year-old Two Rivers man is dead after a head-on crash in Brown County. 

It happened at 7:45 p.m. Saturday on STH 57 southbound in the Town of Scott. 

Deputies said the driver was traveling the wrong way down the southbound lanes of STH 57 when he collided with a Jeep driven by a 59-year-old Green Bay man. 

The Jeep flipped over in the median and started on fire. Other drivers pulled the driver of the Jeep to safety. 

The Green Bay man sustained severe injuries and was brought to an area hospital, according to deputies. 

The Two Rivers man died on the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. 

Officers said the southbound lanes of STH57 were closed for about 6 1/2 hours due to the crash. They reopened as of 2:15 a.m. Saturday. 

The New Franken Fire Department and County Rescue also responded to the scene.
