CITY OF BEAVER DAM (NBC 26) -- Dodge County Sheriff's Office says the Beaver Dam Rotary Club lights in Swan Park were vandalized overnight Wednesday. A report was released by the Sheriff's Office along with photos of the park's damage.
According to a news release, Beaver Dam Police Department found about $3,000 worth of damage was done at the park with the help of stolen golf carts. Along with the light display, several trees and a newly created gingerbread house were damaged and destroyed.
The Sheriff's Office said this damage to the lights will not damage their holiday spirit. The Rotary Light show will continue as normal Thursday evening, although a few lights are unable to be repaired.
This is the third time in many years vandalism has happened to the Rotary Lights, the Sheriff's Office said.
The Departments encourage anyone who has information as to the identity of the people responsible to reach out and call the Beaver Dam Police Department at (920) 887-4614.
The report also says Interquest of Beaver Dam is working with Sheriff Dale Schmidt, a Chairman of the Beaver Dam Rotary Lights Committee, to install both security cameras and a WIFI connection at the park.
Interquest has agreed to donate a majority of the funds for a 24/7 hour camera coverage system in the park. They are asking Beaver Dam Rotary Club to fund $10,000 for the system.
If you or your business would like to help Beaver Dam Rotary cover these costs, contact Sheriff Dale Schmidt at (920) 386-4115 or email him at dschmidt@co.dodge.wi.us for more information.
