WISCONSIN -- People are donating to help in response to the COVID-19 pandemic this Giving Tuesday.

However, the Better Business Bureau has some advice before you make your donation.

  1. Watch out for charities with similar names. Be sure you have the exact name of the charity to avoid a case of mistaken identity.
  2. Be cautious of newly created charities. They may be less effective and are harder to check out without a track record.
  3. Consider your favorite causes. All types of charities need your support, not just the ones that address current coronavirus issues.

One of the organizations you might want to help out is Make-A-Wish Wisconsin.

Due to COVID-19, Make-A-Wish Wisconsin has had to delay more than 100 travel related wishes. But they are still encouraging wish kids with car parades, front yard concerts, and celebrity video messages.

"There are more than 430 life-changing wishes pending for kids who need them right now," explains Kris Teofilo, Regional Director for Make-A-Wish Wisconsin. "Their wish will be granted. We will do everything we can, and with our community's help, we are working harder than ever to work with the community to deliver hope to these kids who needs it more than anything right now. So hope is essential for our wish kids."

Make-A-Wish Wisconsin has been helping make dreams come true for 40 years.
