"Nickolas Mueller" died in action nearly eight years ago in Afghanistan.
Now, his regiment is honoring his memory and family.

When the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment offered to give Nickolas Mueller a special honor his Gold Star mother Sharon knew she had to accept.

It's been eight years since the Little Chute community said goodbye to its native son, but the memory of Nickolas Mueller lives on.

"If people keep on talking with us, their friends, our friends, we know that nick's memory is still alive," said Sharon.

Monday, the Night Stalkers of the 160th Aviation Regiment did much more than talk. Their Chinook helicopter, which had been on display at EAA, flew over the Mueller home in his honor.

"Everybody that was outside knew why the 160th came. They came to respect Nick, to show their honor for Nick, for the family, and everybody that was out there," said Sharon.

Sharon says she told her neighbors the flyover would happen, but was overwhelmed when more than 100 people in Little Chute lined the streets to watch the honor.

"It was love in my heart, because so many people by a little message, that they're going to come, that so many people show up, I just felt the love," said Sharon.

That love, however, is bittersweet.

"It hurts your heart because you know that that should be Nick. You say, 'that should be Nick.'"

For Sharon, as long as people keep talking about him, Nickolas stays with us.

With this flyover, Sharon says Nickolas is doing what he always loved to do, continuing to help others, this time by making people smile.

The video of the flyover has gone viral on Facebook with more than 450 shares, more than 1000 reactions and more than 33,000 views.
