UPDATE Sept. 11, 10:45 am: Police have released a new statement on the now-resolved situation:
On Monday, 9/10/18, Neenah Police Officers responded to the 600 block of Main Street for a weapons complaint where a gun had been fired at another person. Responding officers secured the area around the incident location, and safely evacuated residents in the immediate area.
Through witnesses, Officers found out no one was injured and confirmed a disturbance with a firearm had occurred between a 30 year-old male and an 18 year-old male. They had an argument and the 30 year-old pointed a gun at the younger male. The two men fought over the gun and a shot was fired during the scuffle.
The Neenah SWAT Team safely took the suspect into custody and he is being held at the Winnebago County Jail. Charges of Endangering Safety by Use of a Dangerous Weapon, Going Armed While Under the Influence of Intoxicants, and Disorderly Conduct related to a Domestic Incident were filed with the District Attorney’s office.
This was an isolated incident and there is no further danger to the community involving the parties in this case.

UPDATE: Police released statement on situation:
At 1:22pm, the Neenah Police Department was dispatched to the 600 block of Main Street.
This was reference to a subject who had shot one round towards another person in the apartment. Neenah Police officers responded and were able to escort all area citizens out of harm’s way.
The suspect barricaded himself inside the apartment, at which time the Neenah Police SWAT team and Neenah Police negotiators were called to the scene. Approximately 90 minutes later the subject surrendered to SWAT Officers without resistance.
The subject was taken into custody and will be transported to the Winnebago County Jail. No citizens were injured during the incident.
The incident is under investigation and the Neenah Police Department Investigative Unit is in the process of obtaining a search warrant for the property. More details will be released tomorrow.

UPDATE: Police held a news conference for the active situation earlier this afternoon in Neenah. Police say officers responded to reports of shots fired at an apartment on the 600 block of Main Street.
Police say a man had reportedly shot his weapon at another person at the apartment. Everyone except the man got out of the apartment unhurt, while the man barricaded himself inside the apartment.
SWAT team and negotiators responded, and about 90 minutes later, the man peacefully came out of the apartment.
Police say one person is detained at this point, but police are not releasing the identity of that person at this time.

UPDATE: Police now say the situation has been resolved and everyone is safe. Police say there are no safety concerns for the neighborhood.

UPDATE: NBC26 crew on the scene reports a man appears to have been taken into custody. It's unclear if the situation has ended.

UPDATE: A communications official with the Neenah School District says one of their elementary schools, Taft Elementary, was put on a "secure school measure" from 2:10-2:35pm. There was limited entry and students stayed in class.
The school determined that there was no threat and that measure was lifted.

Police are asking people to avoid the 600 block of Main Street.
Police say they have an active situation occurring and have cordoned the area off.
Drivers can use South Lake Street or Harrisson Street to make your way around that block.
