Appleton schools were put on lockdown Thursday while police chased a man wanted by Appleton and Neenah Police.

At around 10:30 Thursday morning, police tried to meet with a 27-year-old man being investigated by Appleton and Neenah Police for previous crimes. Police say the suspect hopped in his car and fled from the officers, hitting two other cars and running from the scene.

Police blocked off roads in the area because they believed he was armed and dangerous. Some Appleton schools were nearby the incident. Foster Elementary School and Riverview Lutheran School were both put on lockdown for close to an hour.

Police found the suspect at an apartment complex near the schools in the 100 block of West Calumet Street. Police say he was not armed when he was arrested, and no one was hurt during the pursuit.

Appleton Police tell us this man faces charges for running from them, as well as previous charges.
