(NBC 26) — Fortnite players and fans alike will soon be able to see John Cena in the popular video game soon.
Fortnite's publisher Epic Games announced Tuesday that the well-known professional wrestler and actor will be dropping into the game's item shop as a playable character this upcoming Thursday.
The move is part of Epic Games' "Epic SummerSlam" collaboration between the video game company and WWE. Epic Games also announced collaborations with other WWE wrestlers in Rocket League and Fall Guys.
Epic Games has developed partnerships with many other athletes, celebrities, and organizations in the past, including LeBron James, The Rock, Neymar Jr., Ariana Grande, Travis Scott, Bruno Mars, Marshmello, the NFL, and the NBA. Epic Games also has collaborations with DC Universe and Marvel superheroes and villains, and Star Wars characters.
