A man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and her mother has been ruled competent to stand trial.
A judge has allowed 26-year-old Jacob Cayer to obtain his own defense team.
Police say Cayer killed the two women by stabbing them in Hobart back in June 2016. Officers then say they found Cayer hiding in the woods behind the home.
Cayer will be back in court October 13.
