“Making A Murderer Part 2” is coming to Netflix this Friday. Creators say Part 2 dives deeper into the post-conviction process, showing Steven Avery's lawyers attempting to overturn his murder conviction.
A new character in this season is Avery’s advocate Kathleen Zellner. Creators say the Halbach family and the Department of Justice both declined the opportunity to speak in this documentary. But, the creators also said they did get an opportunity to take a deeper look at Teresa’s life.
“A good friend of Teresa’s, a college friend, did decide to sit down with us...gave a very thoughtful interview...that gave us a new opportunity in Part 2 to go further into Teresa's life,” said creator Laura Ricciardi. “It was clear that the people who knew and loved Teresa wanted to focus on the life that she lived, rather than the grief that they felt, or what the loss that they experienced.”
It took two-and-a-half years to create Part 2. Creators say they are open to another season.
