The Green Bay Area Public School District has lifted the lockdowns at three schools on the city's west side.

Green Bay Police said it all started this afternoon when an officer on patrol spotted a car that quickly stopped. A man got out and ran away. They believe he had a gun.

As officers and their K-9 unit searched for the man, Fort Howard Elementary, Lincoln Elementary and West High School were all placed in "secure the building" mode. Students at Fort Howard and West were held past their normal 3:00pm release time until police deemed it was safe for them to leave the buildings.

Police continue to search for the man who prompted the lockdowns.
