GREEN BAY (NBC26) - Several local families are ready to hit the slopes thanks to a YMCA fundraiser.
The 49th Annual Ski and Sport sale helps raise money for YMCA camps for kids, like Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya and Camp Wabansi. Vendors from across the Midwest bring in equipment with some big discounts. It's also an opportunity for families to trade-in their outgrown equipment.
"A lot of families take advantage of our event that have kids, that outgrow their equipment every year,” said Casey Rentmeester, the volunteer marketing coordinator for the event. “So it's not only a great opportunity for them to sell their used gear they've outgrown, but it's also a great opportunity to buy new gear at a discounted price which can help save families a lot of money."
Casey adds hundreds of volunteers help put on the event. Baycare Clinic also donated free winter helmets for kids, to help keep them safe on the hills.
