GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — We Energies and WPS have restored power to nearly all customers in Green Bay and Fox Valley, WEC Energy Group said Sunday.
We Energies crews remained on track to restore power to all customers in the Fox Valley as of Sunday afternoon. Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) has completed storm restoration efforts in the Green Bay area, according to WEC Energy Group.
Hundreds of utility workers from across Wisconsin and the Midwest have worked around the clock non-stop after tornadoes and high winds knocked out power to more than 175,000 WPS and We Energies customers.
A majority of customers were restored Thursday, WEC Energy Group says, but extensive damage in Green Bay and the Fox Valley created an extended restoration time as crews had to replace snapped power poles and rebuild electric circuits.
"We sincerely appreciate the patience and kind words our customers shared with the men and women in the field," WEC Energy Group said Sunday.
Customers who receive FoodShare benefits through the State of Wisconsin who lost food due to a power outage or because of other storm damage this week are eligible to request replacement benefits. Customers can learn more at https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/news/releases/061622.htm.
