MANAWA (WGBA) -- It was a day that began with so much hope for Kurt Anderson.
"I love the feeling of being in that rocket," Anderson said.
He was attempting to break the world record for highest speed on a frozen surface. The current record is 247 set back in 1981.
"I have always been a driven person." Anderson said. "I got tipped about the record and I said hey let's try it."
He came to Bear Lake because it has a smooth surface. He had a trial run Sunday before his big run at came in 150 mph. However, his first attempt did not go well. He hit 241 mph and crashed. He walked away but his rocket was totaled. He did not break the record.
