EGG HARBOR (NBC 26) — When you buy a gift at Woodwalk Gallery, you know you’re bringing home a piece of the Midwest. Located south of the village of Egg Harbor, the gallery has been a part of Door County for over 26 years.

“One of the things that we’ve become known for is variety," said owner Jillaine Seefeldt."We have lots of different kinds of mediums and lots of different kinds of styles. You can look at one wall and see a modern, an abstract, you can look at another wall and see really traditional landscapes.”

The gallery originally opened in 1994. It features work from over 75 artists throughout the Midwest, the majority of which are Wisconsin-based.

The Home for the Holidays showcase features affordable and practical pieces made by local artists.

"I would say probably two-thirds to three-quarters of our artists are Wisconsin and Door County-based and then we really keep a Midwest flavor, Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, so really kind of a close to home feel,” Seefeldt said.

The gallery is currently featuring a 'Home for the Holidays' showcase where visitors can find artisan made gifts that are not only affordable but also functional, such as cutting boards, serving trays, jewelry, and ornaments.

“We have great glass and wood and things that really can be used in the home and so they make great gifts," Seefeldt said. "Really awesome pieces of art that you can give to someone without thinking really hard, things that can fit into people’s decor.”

You can shop the Home for the Holidays showcase online or in store on weekends through December 12th.

Visitors can come shop in store on Saturdays and Sundays through December 12th or online at woodwalkgallery.com. Gifts ordered online can be shipped until December 21st.

Seefeldt says the Home for the Holidays showcase is aimed at supporting local artists and the Door County economy, especially during the winter season.

“I have tried for the last several years myself to buy local because I think it’s so important to support our economy. It’s a really special place and we want to keep it going all year round," Seefeldt said. "There’s so many talented people out there and I think why not give something that’s handcrafted and really meaningful?"
