TOWNSHIP OF WEYAUWEGA (NBC 26) — An elderly woman died after crashing into a guardrail Friday afternoon in the town of Weyauwega, according to the Waupaca County Sheriff's Office.
Officials said deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash along U.S. Highway 10 and County Highway F at 2:35 p.m. When deputies arrived, they administered medical aid to a 75-year-old woman who was trapped in the car. The Waupaca County Medical Examiner later pronounced her dead at the scene.
A 77-year-old man, who was in the passenger seat, wasn't injured.
According to the Waupaca County Sheriff's Office, initial crash findings show the driver was heading westbound on Highway 10 when they exited the road, collided with a guardrail, went down an embankment, across the County Highway F off ramp and eventually stopped in an adjacent field.
The crash is under investigation.
