FOND DU LAC, Wis (NBC 26) -- With so many people cooped up this year, trying to protect loved ones and themselves during the pandemic, the Christmas spirit still appears to be in the swing of things.
Ornaments, decorations, and nearly anything Christmas related that you could conjure in your imagination is selling well, at the Kristmas Kringle Shoppe in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Store owner, Gerrianne Pertl says the month of December at her shop is consistently the busiest time of the year for her business. But as with everything in 2020, things were different this year.
"Of course, December is our busiest month for sure. But this year we saw a little bit of a shift where more people are coming even earlier. So, they came in September, and our September was up year over year."
Pertl, says customers were buying gifts and decorations earlier this season and she was also catering to new crowds.
"They want Christmas to be happy this year. They want something positive and uplifting in their lives right now."
Online sales for the business according to Pertl did help in 2020. But she says many customers continue to show up in person for the experience her shop has to offer, and for the items that can light up a home right now.
"During this time people are in their homes more and they want to have something special."
