UPDATE: Officials at Wisconsin Veterans Home at King issued an update Thursday saying their numbers were incorrect. This article has been updated with the correct numbers.

WAUPACA (NBC 26) -- Wisconsin Veterans Home at King says coronavirus is impacting its facility, with new cases and one new reported death.

"In total, since our last report on Friday, we have had 27 members and 10 staff test positive for coronavirus. Also, since that report we’ve had 7 members and 15 staff recover. In total, we have currently have 48 members and 20 staff who have coronavirus," the statement reads. "Today, we have 51 members in quarantine in Stordock Hall. Unfortunately, we had a death related to the virus. This means we have had four deaths over the past three weeks that may be attributed to COVID-19."

While facility staff are working very hard to keep COVID-19 out of its facilities, official note the activity levels for COVID-19 are very high in Waupaca County, as well as surrounding counties – Winnebago, Outagamie, Waushara and Portage – where staff live.

As a practice, officials say members with COVID-19 are moved to a quarantine area and a very limited number of staff work with the infected members. Staff diagnosed with COVID-19 must complete quarantine or test negative twice following their positive diagnosis, officials say.
