KEWAUNEE (WGBA) -- This year's winter has not been anywhere close to what it was a year ago. The lack of snow and warm temperatures has made things difficult for the Kewaunee Ski Park.
"Obviously the weather has not been cooperating with us," said David Meyers, the director of the park. "We just had a ski hill open. It was shut down due to the warm weather."
However, with the recent re-opening, Meyers said the turnout has been better than expected.
"We were quite busy," Meyers said. "We had just over 100 people a day using the hill a day for skiing and snowboarding so it has been well."
In the next few days, warmer temperatures are expected to hit Northeast Wisconsin. Meyers said they need temperatures to be in the 20s and 30s to operate well. The park will need to monitor the conditions closely.
"We almost have to play it day by day sometimes," Meyers said. "If we went back two three weeks ago and all the rain that was really hit and miss."
Right now the park is operating normal hours. They advise people check their Facebook page for change of conditions.
