GREEN BAY, Wis. (NBC 26) -- In Waupaca, the answer is yes, for now.

As Northeast Wisconsin's largest snow fall of the year blows in from the western winds this afternoon, many schools jumped to cancel school last night. However, Waupaca and others are opting to take advantage of their virtual tools implemented for the COVID-19 pandemic to keep classes going instead of losing another day of instruction.

"We really believe it's out of the picture based on the pandemic," School District of Waupaca's Superintendent Ron Saari said. "In future years, we could reevaluate that, but our concern is teaching and learning, and we need to do the best that we can with it. So as of now, inclement weather days are moved to remote learning days in our district."

Berlin Area School District decided to close in-person school and have "students will transition to asynchronous online learning," according to their website.

Notre Dame Academy also decided to hold virtual school today instead of canceling classes altogether. The schools website reiterates that students are expected to attend all classes scheduled today via Zoom.
