GREEN BAY, Wis. (NBC26) -- Sunday morning's Green Bay shooting suspect has been identified.

"I thought I heard a couple shots," witness MD Lovelace said. "I've heard people say as many as ten. I heard maybe three."

According to the Green Bay Police Department, officers engaged in a vehicle pursuit with a suspect named Tou Vang, which eventually ended up on the corner of W. Walnut St. and S. Maple Ave. after the man spun out when he was pit maneuvered by a police car.

"Following that pit maneuver, officers then encountered a male suspect with a gun," Green Bay police commander Kevin Warych said. "That male suspect shot at our officers and the officers then returned fire."

Green Bay police report Vang, at 29 years old, was wanted for prior felonies before shooting at officers. He used a handgun in the incident.

"Three officers were involved in this shooting," Warych said. "No one was hurt including the officers and the suspect."

Police also say crisis negotiators convinced Vang to exit his vehicle by phone after nearly a four-hour standoff.

"Over an extended period of time, they were able to convince that male to exit the vehicle and safely surrender for everybody's safety" Warych said.

Vang was transported to the Brown County jail where he awaits an initial hearing for several prior felony warrants and a parole violation, along with new charges.

"One incident does not define a neighborhood,"Warych said. "One incident does not define a city. And when people commit acts, our job is to hold people accountable."
