Friday morning on White Clay Lake, volunteers were cutting down trees, pulling the trees across the lake, building bundles, and positioning and anchoring them on the ice.
The tree bundles are added to the lake to create food, shelter, and breeding areas for all sorts of creatures from small aquatic insects, fish, turtles, ducks, and songbirds.
“I think this is a cool winter project as there's so much field work that happens in the summertime and this is a fun way to get out on the ice and help all the fish in the lake overtime,” said Emily Henrigillis, Regional Watershed Coordinator.
