GREENVILLE, Wis. (NBC 26) -- Greenville will host a virtual open house on its Facebook page for residents to learn more about a project which will be included in a question on the partisan primary election on August 11.
The open house event will take place on Tuesday, July 14th at 6 p.m. Viewers will have the opportunity to ask questions in the comments and learn more through a presentation on the project.
The project will be on a 75 acre parcel in the 7000-block of Wisconsin Avenue. The land was acquired in 2004 by the town and was dubbed Greenville's "Field of Dreams." It took more than 15 years of plans and several updates by a committee.
This project will be voted on for the first time in the form of a referendum question which will be displayed as follows:
"Should the Town of Greenville begin the development of a new community park on existing town-owned land which includes a swimming beach, splash pad, children;s playground, athletic fields, ball diamonds, recreational trails, restored native natural areas and off street parking for an amount, not to exceed $6.5M."
According to officials, in order to repay the debt, the town will need to increase its tax levy by about $833,000 for a 10 year period.
