Posted

BURNETT COUNTY (NBC 26) — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources shared a video Monday from the Upland Fire that took place Saturday in Burnett County.

According to the DNR's fire management dashboard on the department's website, the Upland Fire is now controlled. It burned just over 18 acres. The cause of the fire was not available.

The DNR stated Saturday that Wisconsin is facing a very high fire danger across most of the state. The DNR suspended DNR-issued annual and special burning permits on Saturday for counties with very high danger.

The DNR said it has responded to 265 wildfires burning more than 440 acres so far this year. Most of these were related to debris burning, which the DNR said is the main cause of wildfires.

The DNR is asking the public to avoid all outdoor burning including limiting the use of campfires.
