Also happening at the fairgrounds, Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach and Brown County Veterans Service Officer Joe Aulik will participate in the annual Veterans Appreciation Day and VA Benefits Outreach.

“Then we also have a Veterans tent from 12-2, we do veterans benefits, over 50 % of our fellow veterans don’t know our veterans, so we try to connect them with their benefits because they do change their lives. We have veterans from, haven’t seen any World War II veterans a lot of those veterans aren’t with us any longer, but we do have Vietnam era, we’ve got Korean, Gulf War, Iraq, Peace time veterans, so we’ve got from all eras,” Aulik said.

“Each year, our Brown County Veterans Recognition Committee highlights one part of the veteran community to show appreciation of. This year the committee selected spouses and caregivers to recognize,” says Streckenbach. “Our entire veteran community has sacrificed so that our entire nation may enjoy the freedoms we have, and it is important for us to recognize them.”

This year’s certificate ceremony features guest speaker Kevin Hermening, a former Iranian POW, along with the national anthem sung by Jessmyn Kyra and music by the Montery Trail Band.

“This is a great opportunity for veterans to enjoy the fair for free, attend the veteran's tent to learn about their benefits, gather with fellow veterans in the community, listen to an awesome speaker, and honor those who are caregivers of our veteran heroes,” says Brown County Veterans Service Office Joe Aulik.
