APPLETON (NBC 26) — Valley Transit, the public transportation service in the Fox Cities is now offering qualified CDL drivers up to $5,000 in hiring bonuses.
The offer is to help combat and address a severe driver shortage seen throughout the Fox Valley.
“We need customer service-oriented drivers to continue providing the essential services that are connecting our community to jobs, resources, entertainment and, especially as we approach back-to-school season, educational institutions,” said Valley Transit general manager Ron McDonald. “We are hoping this hiring bonus will help us quickly attract candidates that can hit the ground running as soon as possible.”
Applicants interested in receiving the sign-on bonus must already have a valid Class A or Class B CDL with a passenger endorsement and no air brake restriction.
Full-time positions will be provided with a $5,000 bonus and part-time positions will be proved with a $2,500 bonus.
Those interested in becoming bus drivers are not required to have their CDL to apply but will need to be able to possess and maintain a Wisconsin Class B Commerical Driver's License (CDL) with the passenger endorsement and a Federal Medical Card as a condition of employment.
Several full and part-time bus driver positions are open.
