GREEN BAY, Wis. (NBC 26) — Green Bay Police Department is investigating a suspicious death after a body was found near a fire in a wooded area early Tuesday morning.
Authorities received a 911 call for a grass fire by the Arboretum Entrance walking path of the UWGB campus, near the intersection of Sussex Rd and Champeau Rd. When UWGB Police arrived they put the fire out with an extinguisher and discovered a body.
UWGB Police, Brown Co. Sheriff's Office, and Green Bay Police all responded. Green Bay Police said the body was turned over to the medical examiner's office for identification and investigation purposes. At this time, Green Bay Police said this case is being investigated as a homicide.
The preliminary description of the victim is a light-skinned male, 20-30’s, short dark hair with a trimmed beard. He was medium build and approximately six-foot tall. The victim has not yet been identified and Green Bay Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.
Green Bay Police believe everyone involved in the incident knew each other and believe the incident initially started somewhere else other than the woods.
Police say it's an isolated incident and do not believe the public is in any danger.
