MARINETTE CO. (NBC 26) — Law enforcement reported two deaths in Marinette County around 5 p.m. Friday. One death is being investigated as a possible homicide and the other death is an officer involved shooting.

Police said this was an isolated incident and the public is not at risk.

The Marinette County Sheriff's Office said they received a report of a homicide and location of a suspect at a residence in the Town of Goodman.

Law enforcement said they responded to the residence when the suspect fled the home by vehicle. They said in the home they found one dead male. The Sheriff's Office is investigating the death as a possible homicide.

Deputies said they followed the suspect fleeing the home. The vehicle came to a stop and the individual exited the vehicle before pointing a firearm at law enforcement who fired on and hit the suspect. They said the individual succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

No law enforcement personnel were injured during the incident. The involved deputies have been placed on administrative assignment, per department policy.

The second death is being investigated by the Wisconsin DOJ's Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) as an office involved shooting resulting in a death.

The Sheriff's Office said all involved law enforcement are fully cooperating with the DCI during this investigation. DCI is continuing to review evidence and determine the fact of this incident before turning over investigative reports to the Marinette Co. District Attorney at the end of the investigation.

These are ongoing investigations with no further information at this time. The Sheriff's Office said more information will be released when it becomes available.
