FOND DU LAC (NBC 26) — Two people are in custody following a police pursuit Sunday morning in Fond du Lac, police say.
According to the Fond du Lac Police Department, an officer saw someone driving recklessly around Martin Avenue and E. Pioneer Road. Police said the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop and the driver tried to intentionally ram the squad car.
A police pursuit ensued, reaching speeds of 40 mph through several residential areas in the southeast and northeast parts of the city. Police said they eventually stopped the driver in the 100 block of Schubert Lane when the driver ran away. Officers took the passenger into custody.
Fond du Lac police said it appeared the driver went into a nearby home through an open garage door. One person was inside the home at the time.
The homeowner called the house and recognized the person who answered wasn't his wife. Through negotiations, a FDLPD detective convinced the suspect to surrender.
The 88-year-old homeowners weren't injured during the incident.
The driver, a 39-year-old Ripon resident, and passenger, a 24-year-old North Fond du Lac resident, are in custody.
Police said the incident remains under active investigation.
