Two dead following shooting, domestic disturbance call

TOWN OF RICHMOND (NBC 26) — State investigators are looking into an officer involved incident where a Shawano County deputy exchanged gunfire with a man after the man shot a woman.

A Shawano County Sheriff's deputy responded to a domestic disturbance call made by a woman at 3:55 p.m. Friday at a residence on Oak Avenue in the town of Richmond, according to the Wisconsin Department of Justice. When the deputy arrived, they saw a man shoot a woman and toward the deputy, officials said.

The deputy reported shots fired and exchanged gunfire with the man. Both the man and woman are dead.

No members of law enforcement were injured during the incident.

Officials said the sheriff's deputy is on administrative leave, following department policy.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation and is being assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
