GRAND CHUTE — The Timber Rattlers made national news just a few weeks ago when the team announced they'd change their names for a day to the Udder Tuggers all in honor of National Dairy Month.
The team’s president says the Wisconsin-friendly Udder Tugger apparel, with a cow printed on it, sold out on their online store in just five hours. Within just two days, the merchandise also sold out in their stadium store in Grand Chute. It forced the team to get more apparel rushed in for the game Thursday night, so that fans can get in on the quirky name that the whole country has been talking about.
"It puts us on the national spotlight and not just for the Timber Rattlers but Wisconsin as a whole in a positive way,” said Timber Rattlers President Rob Zerjav. “So, whenever you can get that ESPN to cover us, it doesn't get much better than that."
Supplies are limited. NBC26 has been told that only ticket holders will have the chance to buy the items at Thursday night’s game. But, if any merchandise is left over, on Friday morning, it's first come, first served.
During the 2020 season the team plans on becoming the Udder Tuggers for one more game, also in June.
