GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — The National Railroad Museum's Polar Express Train Ride is back on this year after last year's cancellation due to COVID-19. The first show is Nov. 19 and the last show is Dec. 12.
As described by the National Railroad Museum, The Polar Express Train Ride is a magical re-creation of the classic children's Christmas book and movie.
Upon arriving at the museum, guests (many of whom wear pajamas) stroll through the decorated trees that highlight the Festival of Trees, explore the full-size historic trains and play Reindeer Games. The show then begins with the Hot Chocolate Dance - followed by a cup of hot chocolate for everyone.
The hot chocolate dance is followed by a dramatic reading of the original Polar Express book, before the conductor calls "All aboard!" inviting guests to head outside and take a seat on the museum's real train for a ride to the "North Pole."
Along the way, guests will see holiday lights and displays and interact on the train with characters from the book and movie. Passengers on some of our train cars will meet Santa in person during the ride, while others will get to see Santa in the depot after the train arrives at the "North Pole."
For each show, the pre-show is about 30 minutes (Reindeer Games, looking at the Festival of Trees, etc.), and the program itself is about 60 minutes (Hot Chocolate Dance, book reading, train ride, meet Santa).
