Three people arrested for Manitowoc County attempted armed robbery

MANITOWOC COUNTY (NBC 26) — Three suspects are now in custody for an attempted armed robbery in Valders.

According to a statement from the Manitowoc County Sheriff, the incident happened July 7, when deputies and EMS responded at about 11:30 p.m. for a report of a robbery on Christel Drive. The Sheriff said three men entered an apartment and assaulted two people with firearms and a crowbar. Both victims were significantly injured and were taken to a hospital.

The sheriff said investigators identified the three suspects on social media and asked the public for help in finding them.

According to the sheriff, the first suspect, 22-year-old Hunter Steiner of New Holstein, turned himself in at the Manitowoc County Jail. He faces multiple charges related to robbery, burglary and aggravated battery and is in custody on $50,000 bail.

The sheriff said deputies found the second suspect, 21-year-old Brayton Zimmerman from Mount Calvery, in Fond du Lac County. He was interviewed and released pending further investigation.

The third suspect, 23-year-old Chase Wagoner from Glenbeulah, was arrested Wednesday in Grand Rapids, Mich. The sheriff said he is being held at the Kent County Jail pending his extradition back to Wisconsin. The sheriff said he also faces multiple charges related to robbery, burglary and aggravated battery.

The sheriff says the investigation is ongoing.
