FOND DU LAC COUNTY (NBC 26) — Three men were arrested Sunday following a traffic stop that revealed marijuana and guns in the vehicle, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office said.

The sheriff's office said on Sunday at 4:05 pm, a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at N. Brooke St. and Lewis St. in Fond du Lac.

During the traffic stop, the sheriff's office said the deputy could smell the odor of marijuana. The sheriff's office also said the driver admitted he and others had been smoking marijuana in the vehicle earlier in the day.

The sheriff's office said deputies searched the vehicle and found five handguns, including one that was loaded, additional ammunition, over 50 grams of marijuana and THC-related products, drug paraphernalia, and several hundred dollars cash.

The three men were taken into custody for a variety of drug and firearm-related charges, and remain in custody at the Fond du Lac County Jail.

Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan F. Waldschmidt said in a Facebook post on Monday the defendants have not yet made an initial court appearance.
