GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — As part of spring cleaning, Green Bay Public Works says three downtown bridges that cross the Fox River will temporarily close next week.
Each bridge will close for a day, with re-openings scheduled for the afternoon.
The Donald A. Tilleman Memorial Bridge, which is Mason Street over the Fox River, will close Tuesday, April 19. It will close at 6:00 a.m. and reopen at 3:00 p.m. The bridge will be closed east of the Fox River on East Mason Street at South Monroe Avenue. It will also be closed west of the Fox River on West Mason Street at South Ashland Avenue. The detour is South Ashland Avenue, Walnut Street, and South Monroe Avenue.
The Bart Starr Memorial Bridge, which is Walnut Street over the Fox River, will close on Wednesday, April 20, at 6:00 a.m. and reopen at 3:00 p.m. It will be closed east of the Fox River on East Walnut Street at Washington Street and closed west of the Fox River on West Walnut Street at Broadway. The detour is North Broadway, Dousman Street, Main Street, and North Monroe Avenue.
The Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge, which is Dousman Street and Main Street over the Fox River, will close Friday, April 22. It will close at 3:00 a.m. and reopen at 2:00 p.m. It closes east of the Fox River on Main Street at North Washington Street and west of the Fox River on Dousman Street at North Broadway. The detour is North Broadway, East Walnut Street, and North Monroe Avenue.
Access to residences and businesses will be maintained, the Green Bay Public Works Department says. All closures, detours, and work operations are weather dependent and subject to change. Drivers should anticipate backups, use caution while driving through the work zone, and are encouraged to find alternate routes.
