Thousands of unemployment claims, each story different

BROWN COUNTY, Wis. — The sound of tennis ball on racquet has faded. Inside local clubs, the game itself has slowed to a halt.

As a result, tennis coach Aaron Kolz is now out of work. He's lost his job and his income.

"I'm not bringing in anything," he said. "Living on a tight budget."

Kolz has filed for unemployment.

"Everyone doesn't know when we can reopen as businesses," he said.

But here's the issue. Kolz forgot his password. He's tried to recover his account but can't get through.

"I've been essentially locked out of my account and I can't do my weekly claim," he said.

Thursday, we tried to call the Department of Workforce Development's media line to see if we could help and to see how people should file claims. We didn't get a call back.

"I know how hard it is for them to try to deal with people in all walks of life right now trying to get their life back together," Kolz said.

Kolz has several days yet to get through and file a claim, but how many days until he's back on the job is still unknown.

"I just hope this doesn't last as long as people are predicting," he said.
