APPLETON (NBC 26) — The Thompson Center on Lourdes held a fused stained glass class Thursday afternoon where participants created a kite.

"People here can do what they want and at their own pace," said Glenn Erdmann, glass instructor at the Thompson Center on Lourdes. "We help new people one-on-one with their first project and that’s usually foil projects, but we do four types of glass here."

The center, located at 2331 E. Lourdes Dr., Appleton, offers the stained glass class the first Thursday of every month.

"The first thing is getting comfortable with glass," Erdmann said. "Some people think that it’s really sharp and it’ll bite you or something, but we really show them that it’s really easy to scratch
it and break it on the scratch.

"People love to use these skills," he said. "Some students like to make jewelry, little earrings, and other people work on big projects but everybody in here gets creative, and we show them that cutting glass is really simple."
