GREEN BAY — The World's Largest Rubber Duck came crashing down Friday at the Tall Ships Festival in Green Bay.
Around 1 p.m. a gust of wind ripped the zip ties that were holding the duck to its base.
The 60 foot tall, 15 ton duck tipped over, falling on its side and almost hitting people standing in a nearby tent.
The duck's handlers then intentionally deflated it for safety reasons. People who came to see the duck left disappointed.
“My husband works at Shriber he sent me a picture and said, ‘It's here, come down,’ and this is what we came to,” said Kim Hathaway, gesturing at the now deflated duck. “And we paid 45 dollars to see this!”
The duck's handlers say they're waiting for the wind to die down, so they can safely re-inflate it. They expect it to be up again by Saturday.
